When it comes to planning any event, no matter the occasion, you need 3 basic things. What, Where, & When. Before you order invitations, before you pick out attire.
The very first and most important is What. The rest will fall into place and make the whole process easier.
Are you having a simple birthday party? Do you want a theme? Are you having a wedding? Are you planning a reunion? What type of event are you wanting to hold?
Next would be Where, indoors, outdoors, beach, forest, or backyard.
The best way I have found to save money on this one is to look local. If you’re wanting a rustic look, think about parks in the area that can accommodate your wants. If you’re wanting an elegant ballroom experience look for hotels in the area that have a large meeting room. Most hotels can recommend a caterer, as well as a DJ. The backyard event is and will always be my favorite.
Last would be When, summer, winter, spring or fall.
An early ceremony or late night reception. If you’re doing outdoors, think of where you live or want the ceremony; BUGS, Weather, guest travel or room & board. Most church venues have an early ceremony. Some venues give you a time when you have to be done. Some venues have overnight options. All depends on what you want.
I have to tell almost everyone who is planning a wedding and most any event. If it is for you, you & your lover, or your child. IT’S ALL UP TO YOU!!! WHAT DO YOU WANT!!! I know not everyone can take off work, Travel out of state, or afford a room at a nice hotel. I know a lot of people want to cater to the needs of others. BUT IT’S YOUR DAY!!! You want pink, pink & more pink and your partner is ok with it. Then Pink it is. You want to travel to snow for the perfect wedding, I know it’s cold, tell your guests to pack warm or you’ll celebrate when you get back.
